Free e-books: Help your child understand the world around them

We’re giving Naval families a free subscription to Thinkably for the next year. This platform houses content that will help you explain some of life’s most difficult concepts in an informative and sympathetic way

Explaining the world to young children can be tough. From the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, to breaking bad news or managing powerful emotions, there are many potential trappings.

Thinkably is a children’s digital platform with vibrant, educational and carefully crafted multimedia books for children in their early years (ages 3 to 5) as well as primary years (ages 5 to 11).

Thinkably helps children better understand the world around them, reducing their fears and anxieties, inspiring ideas and empowering young minds on important social topics. It gives both children and adults a helping hand in the conversations that can make a real impact on a child’s life going forward.

Clare Scherer, CEO, Naval Children’s Charity said:

“We are delighted that this partnership with Thinkably will give our Naval families access to their range of informative and entertaining books. We hope that our children will get a lot from them during the year and parents and carers will find information and support to help them.”

Dean Horridge, Founder of Thinkably, said:

“We are delighted to be working with the Naval Children’s Charity supporting them with free access to our digital library platform. From early conversations with the Naval Children’s Charity, the synergy between our two organisations was clear.

“We both have children and families at the heart of our work. It was evident that Thinkably could provide additional resources and support, particularly as over the last two years families have had to navigate such challenging and difficult times. Combining our resources enhances the level of support provided to families, giving them practical tools to use daily.”

The ‘My Has’ book series helps children under the age of 11 learn about long-term health conditions such as dementia, cancer, depression and tourette’s. It balances information with a positive outlook that has helped children conceptualise and come to terms with the health conditions of their families.

Their book ‘Life After Lockdown’, available to read for free, picks through some of the anxieties children could face on their return to school, and explains why some might still be struggling with the reality of a post Covid-19 world.

Horridge adds:

“Thinkably’s plethora of important and topical stories gives children, and their grown ups, the tools to have open and honest conversations, ultimately helping children to understand the complex and changing world around them. With books covering coronavirus, environment, extremism to happiness, health and wellbeing and growing up, Thinkably are seeing increased demand for their books due to the increased levels of mental health and anxiety issues reported in children.

“The BBC recently reported a 77% rise in the number of children needing specialist treatment and termed the rise a severe mental health crisis. Head teachers also reported a huge rise in less severe mental health issues.”

Thinkably’s extensive library holds content that can help you with these difficult topics:

Anxiety – Bedtime – Bullying – Diversity and Inclusion – Environment – Exploitation – Global Affairs – Growing Up – Happiness – Health and Wellbeing – Human Rights – Pandemic – Tech Anxiety
